Dr A. Aracil
Medical Herbalist & Family Doctor
Amparo is a doctor and medical herbalist who combines their work as a herbalist with their role as a Family Doctor in Valencia, Spain. With a medical degree (MBChB) from the University of Dundee and a BSc in Herbal Medicine from the University of Westminster, Amparo practices medicine with a clear commitment to dismantling oppressive systems and promoting health equity. They are a registered member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists and the General Medical Council in the UK.

A staunch advocate for anti-capitalism and environmental justice, Amparo believes that true healthcare must reject profit-driven models and prioritise community well-being and sustainability. They incorporate permaculture principles into their herbal practice, focusing on cultivating and prescribing herbs in ways that resist exploitation and support regenerative ecosystems. Amparo is deeply committed to the fight for LGBTQI rights and strives to create radically inclusive, affirming spaces for all patients—especially those who have been historically marginalised by conventional healthcare systems.

With over a decade of experience working with medicinal plants, Amparo focuses on building meaningful, collaborative relationships with their patients. They aim to empower individuals to reclaim their health through herbal medicine and food sovereignty, integrating traditional knowledge with cutting-edge scientific research. Their special interest lies in treating auto-immune conditions such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and hypothyroidism, using approaches that honor both the body and the earth.

Amparo is also an Advanced Life Support provider with a particular interest in acute herbal medicine. They have worked with Herbalists Without Borders in Calais, where they provided first aid and herbal medicine to migrants and refugees—communities often abandoned by global systems of power. For Amparo, healthcare is inseparable from the larger struggles for justice, autonomy, and collective liberation.
